Breaks from Training
Rest and recuparation is an important part of swimming. Session breaks apply during Christmas and bank holidays together with a summer shutdown period, advance notice of which is provided to members with details of upcoming breaks HERE.

For those swimmers qualifying for National events/ achieving finals in National events and training 13 hours plus hours per week. Other criteria also applies including commitment, age and attitude.
A range of morning and evening training sessions ranging between 1 and 2 hours per session are available to swimmers depending on which squad they have been allocated to according to the following timetable.
Squad selection is subject to a range of factors including swim technique, pool stamina, times achieved during events and training, age, emotional intelligence/ social skills, commitment, attitude and competitive spirit.
All sessions are based at Pontardawe Pool unless specified.
Land/ gym training is available at Pontardawe Leisure Centre by invitation of the coaches for those aged 11 years plus and meeting the following criteria:
- Training 8+ hours per week
- Competing on a regular basis
- Training in the Competitive Squad i.e. in Lanes 4 or 5
The National Squads also undertake additional Strength and Conditioning Training on Tuesday evening at Pontardawe Pool.
Morning Training applies to those swimmers aged 11 years plus who are in the competitive squad and training on at least three evenings per week
