Technical ability and skills play the most important part at development level often overriding best times or placement in the training lane as speed will develop with the proper and consistent application of technique.

Swimmers in this squad are competing regularly at Level 1 meets and have met the standard to be a finalist in national events.

Those at an Elite level would be likely to train for 13+ hours per week and be over the age of 12 years.
